Like many product designers, my road to the UX world has been unconventional.
My professional goal is to leverage my creativity, innovation, and critical thinking to design products that users find intuitive, useful, and engaging.
2008-2012
Professional Experience: Majored in Psychology and Spanish in my undergraduate program at the University of Virginia in the United States.
Influence on Design Skills: Received foundational skills in understanding human psychology and attention. Created logos and enhanced my drawing and other fine arts skills through personal projects.
2012-2013
Professional Experience: Moved to Lima, Perú and taught English to business professionals.
Influence on Design Skills: Learned how non-English speakers use accessible technologies to translate content found online.
2013-2016
Professional Experience: Moved to Virginia, United States to work in the social services field. Helped low-income people with their energy needs and ran a daytime enrichment program for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Influence on Design Skills: Trained in sensory needs, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and facilitated communication techniques. Gained first-hand accessibility experience with people with verbal, dexterity, and cognitive needs who used their AT to communicate, navigate the internet, and participate in entertaining activities on iPads.
2016-present
Professional Experience: Joined an eLearning start-up and gained exposure to all areas of the business with a focus in customer service, email deliverability, and product design.
Influence on Design Skills: Research and ideate new features, write acceptance criteria, and create low-fidelity product designs.
